Neat capture. Does this mean that the road allows people and bicycles on it?

Hi Dot. The sign means only people and bicycles may go along here; cars, lorries, horses etc. are not allowed.

Surely it means a bicycle made for 2??

nice shot!

Gordon . . . actually . . . there are several people who have tandems with an adult sized bike at the front and a child's one behind. There are sometimes bikes towing little carriages which look like lawnmower hoods and they sometimes contain two little people (so that's a bicycle for three) and there's even one woman who transports her children in a wooden box attached to a tricycle. So it gets complicated!

Wonderful, blue on blue.

Hi John, and thanks.

I am interested in the contrast between your photography and mine because they seem to be at oppostite ends of intention.

Your wonderful photos show the dramatic in the ordinary while mine, I think, show the un-noticed in the ordinary. Which makes us part of the same spectrum but in radically different ways.

I expect everyone reading this is famliar with John's breathtaking work but, if you aren't - do go and see. You won't regret it!

Hello Meredith

These pedestrian and cyclist signs are quite common here in England. Whether it is a good idea for pedestrians and cyclists to have equal rights of way on the same, fairly narrow, path . . . is another matter!

Hermes - Yes. Isn't it interesting how some things which ought to be plain - because, as you say, they are simply one colour on top of the same colour - become, for that very reason . . . interesting, even beautiful.
