I've never seen these up close - few cordylines ever flower around this locality. Sure makes for an interesting photo.

Cordyline flowers aren't exactly pretty - they look like old Christmas trees that have been chucked up, any old how, into the branches. They don't even stand straight!

There are lots of cordylines round here. I suspect this is not so much because we all admire the trees themselves but because being palms (except, even though they are called palms, they aren't) it makes us feel exotic - as if we are forever on holiday!
