I love this - they look like the silhouettes of three witches cooking up their brew in the moonlight.

It's amazing how the character of trees can change - from fresh and springlike, to dark and foreboding...

You're right - it was a heron in my photo. It was shuffling slowly away from me and my camera :)

It is the best time of year for looking at trees - those intricate black silhouettes. Reminds me of illustrations by Jan Pienkowski (I have one as desktop wallpaper).
About your comments on double flowers - I generally agree with you though I make an exception for the snowdrop!
