I really like the way you get up close and take pictures from unexpected angles and perspectives. You also seem to trim the fat and just give us the good part of the photos.

Well shot. A fasinating thing to see close up, like Acer tree trunks.

Hello James.

Although I do crop photos, I generally try to take them as I plan to use them and, by chance, this one of the trunk is a case in point. It is exactly as I took it, completely uncropped and un-adjusted.

I used hardly ever to crop pictures but since I have been using my present camera, I find I have to from time to time, mostly because it takes too much detail so the image becomes muzzy on the blog. Such pictures may resolve when clicked but, on the whole, I like to post pictures which are fine as they are when first they come up on the screen. I confess too, that I sometimes cut a photo up and post bits of it at different times!

Thanks, Hermes.

I've never looked at an acer trunk close up. I'll have to now. How will I explain myself when a householder finds me plodding across their lawn? "Er . . . I was just coming to look at this trunk . . . ."

I like the story this picture provides of growth and decay.
