Never liked Hudrangea flowers, but the leaves are more interesting than I appreciated.

Lovely photo. I like the touch of rusty brown on the leaves.

Hello Hermes - I don't like fully grown hydrangeas either - but if they were to grow up to have leaves as interesting as these ones in the garden centre . . . I might change my mind!

It would still depend on the flowers though They are generally too stolid for my taste.

Hello Joey. Hydrangeas seem to be a topic on several gardening blogs and the world seems to be divided between those who like them and those who simply can't stand them!

I think they probably need more space than we usually give them here, where they are often crammed into quite small gardens.

These ones certainly go with the blue sky.

Hello Barbee - the light when I took these was quite dramatic. Although the sky above the hydrangeas was blue - huge clouds were amassing behind the polytunnels. (I took this photo at a garden centre.) A storm threatened - though never materialised.

That kind of atmosphere often does make colours intense and edges sharp.

Hello Kanak.

It was the rusty brown which attracted me to these leaves. I don't know whether it is a kind of hydrangea which is new to me or that I have never noticed this is what the little ones do at this time of year or if there is something wrong with these plants. The leaves seem a bit fleshier than I would expect too. But the colours, I agree, are very attractive.
