And I guess you are going to tell me not to touch this one too? ;-D

I love how your eye follows the curve of the wheel..looking beyond.

Great shot Lucy. Eventually it will just be a ferrous stain on the rocks.

Hello Janet - I'm sure you could touch the rusty remains of the bike . . . though I'd be sad if you took it away. It's become almost a friend over the months. Every so often I go to visit and photograph it. One day, inevitably, it will be gone - and I know I will be sad.

Hello Hermes.

I'm not sure the bike will ever be a ferrous stain. I think it will, one day, get so light, the sea really will take it.

There's less and less of it . . . and once children take an interest in it, it will disintegrate even faster.

And, when it is gone, I think I will have to give it a good send off by re-publishing all its pictures in a row.

I think that would be a great post Lucy and rather a good metaphor for life.

Hi Lucy

I saw this earlier and didn't know what to say because it made me feel a bit sad! :(

And I still don't know what to say. I hope you continue to post pictures of it until it has completely gone.

Hello Karen.

This bike has an odd impact. On the one hand, it is sad to see it disintegrate. On the other, it is pleasing to see it so durable. On one hand, rubbish on the beach is unacceptable. On the other, this has a changing beauty and has become part of the place.

What I find interesting too is how I react to it, depending on where on the beach it is. It gets moved around quite a bit within a small area. Sometimes it looks really sculptural . . . sometimes it looks like nothing more than a bit of old rubbish which somebody should clear away.
