Lucy, I think this is one of my favorite photos that I've seen! How intriguing to see the seaweed and the impressions in the sand. It's an amazing shot, really.
And I'm not sure how it happened. You'ved have thought the sea dragging the seaweed away would have blurred the image. That, or the impression of ripples. I always think they are extraordinary - even though there are always a lot of them.

It is frostlike isn't it? That hadn't previously struck me. - Like frost on glass.
I't actually much bigger than that though - about three foot from bottom to top.
