You obviously get very high tides down there! I bet they had fun getting it back on the trailer.

I love boats and the red especially reminded me of Summer trips for some reason.

Was this an over all white boat before it sailed through the wash from your post of the red washing??

Hello Gary.

You can see what's underneath the boat here:-

and here:-

I'm not sure the trailer and the boat are connected. A crane like this

might be needed to get it back into the water.

And as for the tide - yes, it comes right up to the foot of the cliff at this point.

P.S. The owners won't have to think about it yet, anyway. I expect it will stay there till spring.

P.P.S.

This boat is on staging where a sailing club used to be, hence the emptiness. But if you go to the place where the sailing boats are now - it's an exciting event at each end of the winter when they are all hoisted, one after the other, either out of the water or back in.

Hermes - I too find this a very cheerful boat.

It's a kind I like - not impressive but purposeful - more interesting to me than the straightforward sailing-around-for-the-fun-of-it craft.

P.S. One of my great summer pleasures is to take a tourist trip from Weymouth to Lulworth by boat.

Last summer, there were hardly any sailings because the weather was so bad. By the time it improved, the jetty at Lulworth had been taken in for the winter. I now notice the boat which runs the service is up for sale.

Presumably there's a connection.

Really sad.

I'm often stumped for a reply to your comments - but, hello all the same!
