I heard on the radio that 'they' really are researching the possiblity of enabling computers to produce smells. I don't like the idea of that at all. I would hate to be in a room where somebody wanted to watch a smellovision indoor tennis match or a how to boil cabbage demonstration. And, even in my imagination I can't think scents would be anything other than unsubtle.
But your idea of a texture producing screen would be brilliant!
Get some intellectual property rights on it immediately! ! !
Think how it might enhance computer use for blind people as well as provide entertainment for the rest of us.
And I bet it could work.
As a complete non-computer designing or programming person, I can imagine it being easier to produce than acceptable smells . . . sort of activating the pixels to stick out as well as to glow.

Well, I beg to differ. I clearly see an eye there...and not flint;)
I wish someone would invent a monitor which would put texture on an image. It would add a whole new level of appreciation to some of your pictures!

Wonderful!

Oh I expect there will be smelly-vision nose phones so that the smells would not bother others in the same room.
I think we are on a roll here :-)
