I'm also glad you found them. No sooner than I tell people I'm here than something goes wrong with the RSS feeds and I disappear from people's lists. Brilliant!

I like that - very tactile - want to reach out and stroke it. I'd love a garden big enough for proper sized trees.So many have wonderful bark.

Easy Gardener - when I was a child, I used to try to chip bits of bark off trees like this - it's exactly as you say . . . the lure of the tactile.

I wouldn't pick the bark from living trees nowadays (!) but if I find bits lieing around, I still like to pick them up - I know what it's like . . . like snapping a KitKat!

By the way - I didn't take this photograph in my garden. I too would like one big enough to be housing huge and mature trees . . . but . . . unfortunately . . . (!)
