Wouldn't this picture make anybody want to be a woodland creature?! It's beautiful!

Thanks Kanak

There are lots of insects and lots of birds in this wood. It has a lovely atmosphere - exactly the kind of place that makes a good home.

I like deciduous woodland - lots of sun shining through leaves. Or at least it used to - far back in time if I remember correctly.

What a beautiful spot to stop and take in the sights and sounds of nature!

This is the kind of place I most like to be. Lovely.

Mr McGregor's Daughter - good to see you here!

Yes the woodland in the picture is lovely but the winds have got up since I took it (a couple of weeks ago) so I think some of the trees may have fallen. I'll have to go back and see how it's doing.

When trees fall, the council comes and chops them into bits - then leaves many of the branches and bits of trunk for the sake of wildlife, especially insects.

Branches and leaves end up in the little stream and it is getting more sluggish, wider and smellier as a result.

There is usually wild watercress further along but watercress likes very clean running water - come next spring we'll see if it's surviving.

Swings and roundabouts!

Hello Garden Girl - I can't see why I missed your comment until now.

There is a wide path going through this wood and lots of people pass this way - but there is something about the atmosphere of the place which means if others come by, it isn't spoilt.

Easy Gardener

I think of you every time the tomato plants fall over.

White sky, wind and rain today (5th September). The leaves will be on their way down I expect - and soon there won't be any for the sun to shine through.

I wouldn't be surprised if we skip autumn.
