Love it.
Thanks Aileni.
I value your opinion greatly.
Lucy
Excellent! Love the way the sunlight streams across the image creating shadows, patterns and light and dark.
Thanks Elizabeth.
Sometimes, I get cross about the low winter sun - and at others am grateful for it.
Lucy
Lovely and an interesting link for me as a novice photographer I will learn a lot from your lovely photos.
Beautiful light.
So lonely and quiet! Is he going to work in a cold morning?... The light is beautiful indeed!
Joanne - http://monochromeweeklytheme.blogspot.com/ is certainly worth keeping an eye on. Some quite inspiring things happen there.

Hello Robin
Our natural light is swinging around a lot at present. Sometimes it is non-existant, sometimes it provides us with wonderful sparks and warm tones.
Lucy
Sylvia - I took this photo in the late afternoon. If you were to enlarge the photo and look at the man's sleeve and his bag, you might decide times are hard for him. I doubt if he is on the way to work.
Lucy
An effective shot against the light; nice one.
Hello John.
Yes, I often like 'against the light' photos for monochrome because it emphasises shape rather than detail.
It also 'fits' with the season because I'm often finding it hard to see where I am going - the light is sharp and low and white and in my eyes for most of the day!
Lucy
Lovely.
an amazing shot...i love the bright light..as if a man is walking into the light
mine is here
Hello Serendipity.
Glad you like the photo of the man on the road.
Lucy
Hello Chie.
I agree. It is as if the man is walking into another time.
Lucy
Truly outstanding Lucy. The lighting, the figure, the composition...
Thanks Aware Writer.
I'm glad you like the photo of the man walking. So much depends on chance. The pictures wouldn't have been at all the same if he hadn't been there and I would never have chosen for him to be there in advance because I don't usually like to take pictures of people - but, he just happened along . . . and there it was.
Lucy
What a wonderful shot. I love it.
Thank you Carver. I'm glad you like the 'Man' photo.
Lucy
That is a beautiful picture. Great monochrome . LOve the light. Happy Holidays
This is such a well-balanced photograph, Lucy. I love your decision to go withe the light coming in from the right. This set up the shadows on the road just so. However, it was your patience to wait until the man was in the best possible spot that transformed this photograph into an attention grabber. I quite like it.
Thank you Riet.
I'm glad you like the photo of the man walking into the evening light and that you too (and all of you!) have a very happy time over the Christmas season.
Lucy
Thanks Julie for your 'crit'. I appreciate it. There again, you touch on chance. If you don't catch the moment . . . you can't run after a stranger and ask him to walk his route a second time!
And there's another thing - this photo sorts of serves me right for all the times I have got unjustly cross when people have walked into frame.
Lucy
Great depth in the picture, and I like the light in the trees. Very good black and white
I really like it Lucy. It has a great depth and the anonymity of the man added an impact on your photo.
I myself do such 'against the light' shots. Though it is really difficult especially with the sun rays penetrating in my eyes, I can't really stand long under the sunlight.
Great shot Lucy. Well done.
Thankss Tone. It's very satisfying when there can be a simple structure - then more than first meets the eye after all.
Lucy
Hello Misalyn.
I have a touch screen camera. Sometimes this is a nuisance - but there are also times when it means one can take an into-the-light photo without blinding oneself in the process!
Lucy
Great image
Thanks Mo.
Lucy
Excellent shot!
This is one of my favourites, cracking image thank you.
Thanks John and Adrian. I'm glad you like the photo 'Man'. It's one of my favourites too.
Lucy
Where is he going? The road leading into the the light is very enticing.
Hello Rune. That's an interesting question. He's walking away from town . . . going home? Visiting someone? The light, which, of course, was irrlevent to his purpose suggests a sense of destiny in the photo which wasn't there in real life. One of the joys of photographs!
Lucy
Beautiful picture! I love how serene this one is. The b/w really completes this shot. Nice work!
Hello Elizabeth.
Yes, it seems to come from a gentler season.
