It's a sad one, though. I thought you were going to say it was storing itself up to spring out with the spring but you are suggesting the tree would like to fruit in winter too.
Noelle - and with the photos on your blog, you sometimes show us the internal architecture of cactii - something I had not known about before and which is equally marvellous.

Very stark and fits the weather today perfectly. Great shot Lucy.
Tree bones reach from the bowels of earth,
Yearning for their freedom.
Tormented, gnarled fingers claw at the sky,
Yearning for their freedom.
Yet sapped, dormant in frozen veins,
Must wear a coat of snow.
While limbs shiver in the winds of winter,
All their yearnings do not bear fruit.
Hello Lucy,
I just love different types of branch architecture, which is especially obvious during the winter time.
Such starkness... it fits the mood of winter perfectly. I like the wee bit of light glowing off a few of the branches.
Hello Hermes - a lot of stark days at present!

Ron - a poem!

Hello Oz Girl.
You may have noticed the wee bit of light is on the under side of the branches. The sun was going down and I just got this photo before it vanished.
