IF ONLY KING HENRY HAD READ THE NOTICE

This is Sandsfoot Castle. It was built in the time of Henry V111 but began to fall into disrepair as early as the 1640s.

It is now being worked on before it falls down completely.

Old stones. Modern scaffolding. New notice. If only King Henry had been able to see that 'don't do it' notice at the time - just think how different history would have been!

I am fascinated by Henry VIII and his wives. I get the feeling that if there wasn't a scaffold, he still would have found a permanent way out of two of his marriages and other political associations at his court.

It looks a great place. It will have plenty of notices when they are finished no doubt.

Hello Sujomi. Unfortunately, I think you are right. When despots, dictators and nasty kings take it into their heads to get rid of people they no longer like - there's often no stopping them. One way closes - they find a different route.

Hello Adrian. It's an interesting place - but very small. You are right, I am sure. There will be notices galore once the work is done.

I'm so glad they are making efforts to "save" this castle. What a tragedy if a piece of history like that would be lost. Have a lovely weekend. Mickie :) You have a great blog!!!
