I like the contrast. And I particularly like the bit of ivy at the bottom.

Perfect image for B/W, Lucy.

This is the beauty of B&W photography...it allows you to use your imagination when you see pictures like these. Fantastic as usual!

Isn't it interesting that when you capture an image in real life, it can take on an abstract form? I like it.

Very stark, but in this case it fitted very well.

Lovely image:)

Lovely collection of twirls and swirls here. Old, decaying wood is one of my favourite things ... along with rusty metal and lichen covered rocks ... and old people.

Effective use of contrast.

Wow, you really pushed the contrast on this one. It's like calligraphy with wood.

Hello all of you who liked the heightened contrast in the picture of fallen wood - Dragonstar (ivy gets everywhere!) Sistertex, Merlin Princess (I'm fine thanks, suddenly noticing spring!) Dagrun, John and Aware Writer.

Hello Don and Sher, Anne and Maria.

Glad you liked the picture of the fallen wood.

This was huge - taller than me (and very much wider!). If I had had more time, I could have taken lots of photos from different angles and they would all have been different.

As it was, I was meeting someone and already late because of other things I had seen to photograph on the way. Fortunately, people know my eye is likely to be caught and that will delay me. They get cross but at least they don't worry.
