Fabulous - I actually have a day at home to-day, perhaps I should go to the beach? - No, I had better plant bulbs (sigh)

Hello Karen - your weather must be different from ours this morning. If you were to go to the beach here, you'd need to drag an anchor with you to stop being gathered up and blown away in the wind. (Westerly so not too cold but very . . . windy!)

Have fun with the bulbs.

Lucy - Could our "worlds" be any more differnt. This photo of your beach to my eyes is incredible...obviuosly a scene like this would never occur here unless we had been hit by one of our terrible hurricanes (which hasn't happened now in two years!).

My photo is quite common here as Tampa (and the southern portion of the city)is surrounded by lots of water. We have a river that cuts all the way though and two big bays of water, Hillsborough and Tampa Bay. Both contribute to a pretty large harbor. The photo was taken on an island just across from the city's business district and is beautiful and residential..."island living." The camera captures one of its marinas with the city's office towers as a skyline. It's one of my favorite combinations of water, boats, sky, clouds and office towers. (It's finally cooling off here with a high temp of 78-degrees - about 26 Celsius.)

Really atmospheric. Pity you can't include the sniff of ozone and a few cries of gulls. I love this one Lucy.

Hello Frank - the coastline round here is incredibly varied. There are holiday marinas and places for sailing boats in Weymouth and on Portland Harbour - but no big business districts with skyscrapers like yours!

In the distance . . . (about two miles away) you can see the line of Portland Harbour wall - built with stones quaried by Napoleonic Prisoners of War.

You say the scene is incredible to your eyes - to mine too. I simply can never get used to it and never cease to marvel at the chance (for it was chance!) which brought be to live near here.

Hello Hermes - the idea of smelling the sea through a computer is tempting - though I'd worry it would turn out as close to the proper smell as air-freshener sprays are to roses!

You're right Lucy, perhaps smells are better in our imagination. I love the smell of a shore like this - brings back a lot of good memories.
