Such beauty that we rarely appreciate.

Hermes - I agree. Usually the individual heads are buried in such a froth one is less likely to take notice of the individual heads than if an individual one is brought to the fore like this by darkening the background.

What an interesting seedhead, love the swirls of filaments.

Hello Janet.

I posted a picture of the plant the other day at

http://picturesjustpictures.blogspot.com/2009/10/old-mans-beard.html

This is a close up.

It's a lovely whirl of filaments, isn't it? The flowers themselves though are surprisingly small.

I love the dark and light contrast in this photo. I did see the larger group earlier in the week. It is fun to explore a single bloom.

Reminds me of the little lap dogs women carry around here.

Oh, bother, Mo. I hadn't seen that in it before but, now I do, I won't be able to stop grinning every time I see this photo. And there I was just thinking 'how beautiful!'!

At a tangent . . . I'm finding your blog quite a challenge at present. I find some of the comments people leave seriously provoking and I'm often tempted to come back and leave comments on the comments!

So far I have been restrained but . . .

Isn't it fascinating how people take such a variety of thoughts and impressions from the one image.

It looks so day. Interesting shot.

Hello Rebecca.

As long as a picture of Old Man's Beard comes out, it can almost be guarenteed to be interesting. It's that kind of plant.

For the person taking the picture - getting the elements of white to show up is the challlenge. White is such a bother!
