I've just been arm-chair travelling through your site as well as enjoying the music and the instruments on your blog.

Morning, Victoria. Do you see a roughly triangular dark shape with the pointed end in the damage? That's where the leaf is folded to make a home for a thin brown grub - a bit less than a centimetre long with a black head. I suppose I could remove it but there are so many leaves perhaps a few can be spared.

(Probably famous last words. My neighbour, Esther, helped gooseberry sawfly caterpillars onto a gooseberry bush because they looked so sweet and in a hurry to get there. End of bush! Hmm.)
