They always look unreal at a distance and more unreal close to. Some of the Greek ferries I've been on are like small planets!

In my mind I'm on that BIG ship. Heading for some tropical, exotic place.

Hello Easygardener and Debbie.

Travelling by cargo ship used to be the cheap option but now it's expensive. And, with no entertainment laid on, and hardly any crew, and not much to look at apart from boxes and water - you'd have to be psychologically tough to travel that way, I reckon.

Debbie - I don't know whether it was coming or going - maybe it's next port of call would be somewhere very un-exotic . . . like Southampton. One can dream, though.

These are the vessels that bring us so much we don't need. Graceless profile of heaped containers the modern conveyor commutes the seaways spoiling the view. The unloved place-blighting 'lolo' ship, built on a spreadsheet by just-in-time men, with turn-arounds that deny the chance of foreign affairs for a diminutive crew who, from their towering apartments, are employed to expect instead of wicked spicy bustling landfalls, swift copulation with portainer gantries running, like daleks, on concrete aprons, connected to asphalt networks servicing greed.
