I have a lot of Ivy on my trees (doesn't seem to harm them) and this captures them so well.

The ivy does look like stars, doesn't it? I feel as if I should make a wish.

Bare branches against the sky - one of my favourite subjects. I wonder about introducing ivy into my garden (for wildlife) but I'm worried about it taking over.

Morning Hermes, Victoria and Easy Gardener,

Mixed feelings about ivy. Until I came to live where I live now, I didn't think ivy damaged trees, at least, not as much as it is reputed to do. But, round here, there are trees which are wrapped up like parcels in it - to the extent that you can hardly tell what is inside.

This ivy, though, is hanging loose and I like it a lot - and feel I ought to watch out for Tarzan swinging by!

Victoria - definitely make some wishes on it - probably one for each leaf!

Easy Gardener - what kind of wildlife are you thinking of ? Insects and spiders and things? Ivy can pretty much eliminate any other plant life if it spreads at ground level. Or are you planning for it to go up for birds to live in?

I planted some outside my house five or six years ago, in a patch were the soil is so poor I thought it might be the only thing which had a chance of growing. It didn't. It just stayed inert . . . at least, until this spring, when it's started going up the brick work of the house all of a sudden instead of across the earth. It looks quite interesting but I suppose I should stop it before it gets its feet into the mortar.

it looks a little bit mystical, but great shot!

Suzi - what will you wish for on the ivy stars?

Glad you like the Ivy Stars, Misola. I thought them more jungle-like than mystical - but maybe that's because I walk this way a lot and they have become very familiar - in all lights.

Hello Elk - glad you like the idea of 'Ivy Stars'. They draw the eye but the trees are what I look at most.
