That leaf looks good enough to eat.

Hi, Weaver of Grass.

The leaf looks a bit like spinach, doesn't it?

In fact it is a wild plant and I'm racking my brains to remember what.

I agree with Lucy! My first thought was if this is spinach... it looks so yummy!

I really will have to go back and find out what it was now!

(Assuming I can find it!)

It looks like Lords and Ladies Lucy (Arum maculatum). Great shot.

Hermes - you are right.

That is what I thought I remembered thinking it was when I took it - except that yesterday, when replying to The Weaver of Grass and Benonflocke:-

a. The name of the plant was escaping me

and

b. The plant I remembered seemed too big to be the plant I thought it was if only I could have remembered its name. (If you see what I mean.)

BUT - if that is what you think it is from the picture and that is what I would have said if a.) and b.) hadn't applied . . . then it must be Lords and Ladies.

But I always find it disconcerting when plants change radically throughout the season and it is the flower and berries by which I most easily identify it and with which I am most familiar.

So, Arum Maculatum (Lords and Ladies, Jack in the Pulpit, Cuckoo Pint, Portland Sago) it is!

Thanks, Hermes.

Lucy

P.S. This photo is also causing me another crisis. I took it with a camera-phone that I didn't like at the time but, looking at this photo, I'm deciding that I did like it after all and am regretting my decision to take it back.

Ah well!
